What this site knows about you, which is very little

No accounts, no mailing list, no comments, no advertising network. This page describes what actually happens when you load a page here, not what a template says might.

There is no mailing list

This site has no newsletter, no sign-up box and no account system, so there is nothing here that collects an email address. If a page ever asks you for one, something has gone wrong and we would like to hear about it.

What the server sees

Serving a page requires knowing where to send it, so the web server keeps ordinary request logs: the address requested, the time, an IP address, and the browser's own user-agent string. That is how every web server works. These logs are not used to build a profile of you, are not sold, and are not combined with anything else.

Health topics deserve a specific promise: what you read on this site is not tied to a name, is not shared with any advertiser, and is not used to target anything at you anywhere else.

Some outbound links go through /go/ and on to a seller. Following one tells that seller, through their own affiliate network, that a visitor arrived from this site — that is the mechanism by which we are paid. What happens after you land on their site is governed by their privacy policy, not this one, and we have no access to who you are or what you bought. The commercial side is set out in full on who pays us.

Cookies and third parties

This site sets no tracking cookies of its own and runs no advertising network. Fonts are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so loading a page does not announce your visit to a third party. A seller's site may set its own cookies once you are there.

Changes and questions

If this ever changes — a partner network requiring something new, for instance — this page changes first and says what changed. Questions go to [email protected], and contact explains what else that address is for.
